The GLC 43 Coupe is a car born of an unusual inheritance. Its 2.0-litre turbocharged four-cylinder engine traces its lineage directly to Formula One - an electrically assisted turbocharger, developed from AMG's involvement at the top level of motorsport, eliminates turbo lag so completely that the concept becomes irrelevant. Power arrives immediately, completely, and with a conviction that the previous V6 could not match.
The numbers reflect that conviction. Combined with a 48-volt mild-hybrid system and belt-driven starter-generator, the M139 engine produces 310kW and 500Nm, routed through a nine-speed AMG Speedshift transmission to all four wheels via AMG Performance 4MATIC all-wheel drive. Zero to 100km/h in 4.8 seconds. An electronically limited top speed of 250km/h. It is a drivetrain that feels entirely at odds with its displacement - and entirely at home in an AMG.
The Coupe body adds a dimension the standard GLC cannot offer.
