Built on a dedicated aluminium platform and powered by an engine shared with the AMG GT Black Series, the DBX arrives in a class of its own: a five-seat, go-anywhere vehicle that carries the lineage of one of the world's great performance marques without apology or qualification.
Under the bonnet, the Mercedes-AMG sourced 4.0-litre twin-turbocharged V8 has been tuned by Aston Martin to produce 405kW and 700Nm, delivered through a nine-speed automatic transmission and permanent all-wheel drive. Zero to 100km/h in 4.5 seconds. A top speed of 292km/h. On the road, the DBX moves with a fluency and a character that no rival SUV at this price point can replicate - there is simply no substitute for a V8 this well sorted.
The chassis is as considered as the drivetrain. A 48-volt active roll control system eliminates body roll under hard cornering without compromising ride quality, and five driving modes - GT, Sport, Sport Plus, Terrain, and Terrain Plus - ensure the DBX is equally at home on a gravel road as it is on a motorway. The 22-inch wheels, 285/40 front and 325/35 rear tyres create an SUV that handles with genuine sportscar intent.
Inside, hand-stitched Bridge of Weir leather, a clean and uncluttered dashboard, and the quiet confidence of Aston Martin's interior philosophy create a cabin that is unmistakably British in its character - restrained, beautifully resolved, and entirely focused on the driver and their four companions.
